  • Sponsoring: local user groups are encouraged to collect reasonable annual membership fees (depending on the country). These collected funds can be used to fund the development of relevant features, help with bug-fixing or as a donation to the international QGIS project.
  • Учреждение групп по интересам, например, обследования, городского планирования, серверов и интернет-клиентов и т.п.
  • Инициирование/согласование в части модулей приложения, например, обследования, городского планирования, серверов и интернет-клиентов и т.п.
  • Electing a representative to act as a QGIS Voting Member

Общие предпосылки и рекомендации

  • local user groups should stay vendor/company neutral
  • establish democratic structures for the local steering committee, voting and making important decisions
  • stay transparent, especially if you deal with membership-fees and how you spend them
  • inform the international project from time to time about your local activities

Организация

Depending on your country, a smaller legal entity, e.g. an association or non-profit organisation, can be established. Depending on local legislation, such an entity implies that you meet at least once per year (general assembly), publish a yearly report and make the financial report available to your members. Often it also implies the creation of statutes.

Statutes of the Swiss QGIS user group as an example:

Формы заявлений на участие:

You can use these statutes and membership application forms as a reference and change them as needed for your local situation.

Local Country domain qgis.xx

It is recommended to register your local country domains, e.g. qgis.ch or qgis.uk. If the domain is already taken by other organization, company or person, please negotiate if you can transfer the owner to the local QGIS user group. The QGIS international project has registered QGIS as a trademark, which should help you during your negotiations.

Веб-сайт

Your local user group website should be used to publish any material in relation to the information and management of the user group. Examples include the user meetings, case study, shared material, discussion boards, etc. Public material should be available without login requirements (e.g. do not require interested people to be a member of a social media network like Facebook or Google+). Usage of social media is recommended but should not be the only channel of information. RSS feeds should be made available at the Website of the QGIS user group.

Good luck with organizing your local user group! Please inform the international QGIS team by registering at the QGIS community list and reporting about your progress. Please do not hesitate to ask questions regarding the establishment and maintenance of your local user group.

Starter pack

QGIS.org subdomain hosting

If you prefer to use the official QGIS.org branding and host your user group website on a QGIS.org subdomain (e.g., sweden.qgis.org), you can utilize the provided template repository at https://github.com/qgis/QGIS-User-Group-Website. This option ensures consistency with the main QGIS website design. Please carefully read and follow the setup instructions provided in the repository.

QGIS News Feed submission access

Local user groups can request access to the QGIS News Feed system, which allows you to submit news entries (such as events, crowdfunding campaigns, meetups, or announcements) that will appear in the QGIS news section once approved by moderators. This is an excellent way to share your group’s activities with the global QGIS community.

Template for local country domain qgis.xx

For local country domain, if you do not wish to host and design your website from scratch, you can use the template provided at https://github.com/qgis/qgis-template.github.io.
